We work in small batches on a weekly cadence to promise consistency and quality.

🌱 SENDING FILM

DROPPING OFF

We are located to the left of Rising Sons, up the stairs in Suite 250. The building is open for you to drop off film at these times:

  • Weekdays: 7am - 7pm

  • Saturdays 8am - 5pm

If we’re in the studio, please come in, chat, and have some coffee. Sometimes we’ll have baked goods too. 🤠

MAILING FILM

After checking out, place your film canister(s) in a protected envelope and send it to the address above. Remember to write your order number on the envelope!

🌿 PROCESSING

Every Monday

We carefully remove film from the canister and run it through chemicals at exacting temperatures to produce the best possible image.

🌳 SCANNING

Every Tuesday

From the developed negatives, we will digitize them through a process of DSLR scanning. The images will then be color corrected, cropped, and packaged up for you to download as high quality jpgs.

If we receive your film before Monday, you will get your scans back by Tuesday evening.

You’re always welcome to contact us here:

Frequently Asked Questions

Do you process slide film (E-6)?

No, and we do not currently have plans to do so. We currently only develop with BW & C-41 chemicals.

If you would like your E-6 film to be cross processed with C-41, we’d be happy to! Just make a note of it when you drop off your film.

Can I get higher quality scans?

Yes – we typically send out high quality jpgs (420 dpi, approximately 3000x5000px for 35mm) because it seems to be more manageable for most folks.

If you’d like to receive tiffs (or even raw files of your negative scans!), please make a note of it at drop off. Please note that we do not recommend this for the average photographer.

When can I expect to get my scans back?

We run our processing and scanning on a weekly basis. Development is done on Mondays and scanning is done on Tuesdays. If you submitted your roll before 9am on Monday, you can anticipate a download link emailed to you by Tuesday evening.

Can I push/pull my film?

Yes! It is an additional $5 per roll to push or pull. You can add that option to your cart here. Remember to specify which roll you’d like this applied to!

Can I get my negatives back?

Yes, upon request. We have a film locker that will make it easy for you to pick up your negatives at your convenience. When dropping off your film, make sure to write on the bag that you’d like your negatives back. If you’re mailing in your film, add the option to get your negative shipped back here.

We only keep negatives for 1 month after the development date, so please let us know as soon as possible if you’d like your negatives.

Why “Bleach”?

Blix, or bleach fix, is the chemical in which the metallic silver is converted into silver halide, giving clarity to the image and allowing the film to be handled in the light. Though each part of the film development process is crucial, we believe that the bleach stage acts as the best metaphor for the role we want to play in your work. 😌

Why the weekly cadence?

Aside from developing film, we also work on other things (film production, music, painting, and our own photography!). The weekly cadence allows us to continue working on projects while maintaining consistency in timing and quality for you.

Rather than sporadically developing throughout the week, we believe that dedicating entire days to the process ensures that all our focus goes towards film development.
